Using the internet for good instead of evil...

Have any of you kids ever been to Japan?
We're arriving in Tokyo about 6pm, then our flight leaves from Tokyo 4 days later. Any suggestions on what we should do, where we should go?

Any clues on accomodation?

Finally! You posted a question I can answer!

You could spend some time in the shopping and entertainment districts--Ginza and Shinjuku are two great examples.

You can drool on all the [very expensive] Japanese technology that is light-years ahead of what the rest of us have. Oh wait, maybe that is just what I did.

You could watch sumo wrestling, but I think you might have to schedule that in advance.

You can visit some historical buildings and/or rock gardens.

You can play plinko.

You can chill in a bar with a $35 (at least that's how much it cost in US$) bottle of beer.

There is a hotel district, but I can't think of any specifics off the top of my head. I know of an awesome website that will give you more information and maps and directions to stuff. Let me find the address and I'll email it to you.

Also, and this is very important, if you decide to eat food in a public place, you will probably have to use chopsticks because it is Japan and they use chopsticks there. When you are finished eating something, Never, Never, Never stick your chopsticks straight in your food and leave them there, especially if that food is rice.

No idea. I do have an idea on something completly unrelated however. Check your email, biatch.

Who are you calling a biatch?

Want to take it outside lady?

Thanks D, I'm so playing Plinko (What is it?).

You, biatch. Speaking of email. Have sent you The Friday Story To End ALL Stories. Gmail, baby.

Plinko is similar to the old school pinball machines. It's basically a form of gambling--the Japanese version of slot machines--except gambling is illegal in Japan, so the whole process of actually getting money out of the game is very hush-hush. Everyone plays it, though, the plinko bars are everywhere and they are always packed. Good times.

Firstly, you'll have to GET to Tokyo, as Narita airport (the international one) is a rather long train ride away.

Do the electronic district have to see to believe. Wander through Harajuku and Shinjuku to see the bizarre Japanese fashion that you hear about everywhere, but only window shop unless you have a house mortgage in Ginza.

Check out the Imperial Palace, wander through the Palace East Garden...

Do a day trip to really is breathtaking.

Check out Asakusa for some historical Japan (Kaminarimon Gate for example) and Nakamise Street for souvenir shopping. A Hato Bus Day tour will probably get all the typical sightseeing stops out of the way...

Go on a cruise of the Sumida River and Tokyo Bay.

Go to Tokyo Disneyland! I loved Disneyland:)

Stay in a capsule hotel purely for the experience! Or the Sakura Hotel where i stayed quite frequently.

Umm...that's about all i have at the moment. If you haven't gone already, have a fantastic time...i'm so damn jealous!

This is within walking distance to Tokyo Station. The rooms are clean, people are friendly, and cheap for Tokyo!

Just to add to auburn's comment: if any of your traveling companions are female, you can scratch the idea of staying in a capsule hotel because girls aren't allowed to stay in those types of hotels.

Yeah i know...i couldn't, but my male buddies have done. Don't do it if you're claustrophobic.
