First Annual Blogger Games!

Welcome to the Bloggolympics.

Now, this may or may not work, but I'm going to give it a good shot. I'm not too shy to say this could be the funnest thing to ever hit the blogosphere and I'm not too proud to suggest that we may never speak of this again...... but I give you:

Event 1/Round 1: Blog Paper, Rock, Scissors.

I've just chosen these competitors based on their excellent commentness, in this blog. If you wish not to participate please let me know. If you would like to join in if I ever, ever do this again, also, please let me know.

Blogger Matchups:

Melbourne vs Sydney
Bevis vs Jobe

Cleveland vs Near Salt Lake City
Sarah vs DrowninginJello

Friend vs Friend
Steph vs Auburn

Australia vs America
Muffin vs Meghan

I'll let you know the results and the Round 2 matchups in a couple of days.
Can you feel the excitement?

Needs 32% more mascot and 18% more catchy national anthems (can I set my own victory anthem?).

Dying to learn my part in all of this, however, Cheeky Adam, the email address you left on my blog turned into a dud.

After attempted email I received the following "Delivery Failure Status Notification."

Try me instead: And give me a snazzy Memo line or I won't know it's you and will delete it post haste.

You kids/kittens are cute!

I'll give you the short and long versions of The Truth.

Short: Upping the funness dudes!

Long: Recently through a series of flukes and accidents I became the Rock, Paper, Scissors Champion of the World. It was the greatest day of my entire life. The Blogosphere is all about sharing, so I thought that instead of taking you through the journey with it's emotional highs and lows, I would instead create a journey for each of you. It should be the ultimate in sharing.

So, I've e-mailed each of you (except you Auburn, I will when I get home) and I would like you to respond with a "rock", "paper" or "scissors". I will then compare your response to your opponent (as specified in the post above). Once the winners are determined, I'll post the results and will proceed with the next round..... until we have a single Bloggolympic Champion.

Now, I am aware that the Olympics is a massive event involving almost all the countries in the world that compete in gold medals in hundreds of events. The Bloggolympics is 8 bloggers playing one game. I defy anyone to argue that the Bloggolympics is less important.

I agree, far more vocal and visual themes are required. I'll see what I can do.

I am dying to know the results. Damn you, Adam, for making me wait. You have to surely know I am the most impatient person on the planet.

I am also angry with you, dear Adam, for pitting me against such a formiddable opponent. I am almost hoping I lose! I read Muffin's many blogs and she is to die for amazing as a writer and, from what I can tell, as a person.

Horrid man making me like people I don't know. For shame.

Dear Meghan,

You're welcome!

At 3:53 PM, Blogger BEVIS said...

Should I assume, from your description above (comparing this little experiment with the Olympics), that there will be medals or at least prizes awarded to the winner/s?

At 3:58 PM, Blogger BEVIS said...

Also, because I am not a big fan of mean competitiveness, if I lose the first round to Jobe, I want it known here and now that I will turn my support to Jobe, and will champion his cause all the way to the finish line. I will be his number one fan. I will be his head cheerleader. I will be his private dancer.

Because, just like the Olympics, this is not just about the journey, but the experiences and friendships one can have along the way.

Much like the way Adam would have felt (I am certain) when he was crowned Rock, Paper, Scissors Champion of the World recently.

I think I saw something about it on the news, actually ...

GO JOBE!

I love how we're already all supporting each other! This really is the community spirit inherit in the Games!

Are we living in the Athletes' Village yet?

Muffin's idea is totally gold. This Bloggolympics may actually turn out to be more than one event. I've got some ideas, but I'll share those at a later date.... I better write them down...

Anyway, I'm still awaiting responses from everyone but Drowninginjello (the others who replied drew and have to re-submit).

Whoa! Excitement!!
Can't handle the freakin suspense/lack of eating yet.

Adam, you are certifiable. It's official.

I sent you an email response IMMEDIATELY following my receival of your email. I sent it to both email addresses.

Please tell me I wasn't thrown out with the junk mail. I couldn't bear to think that my lovely words were thrown out with the bathwater. (Sigh)

No, the results are nearly, nearly in. I'm waiting on some resubmissions because a couple of the games drawed.
You people are amazing!

Nearly, nearly!

I've just sent my new answer through, Adam.

Sorry for holding everyone up; I can't access my email unless I'm at work (stupid slow home computer!).

Anyway, shouldn't we have an Opening Ceremony before the first match gets underway (or at least before the winners are announced)?

I'm imagining some amazing mix of the Australian and American cultures (plus any other countries represented here that I'm unaware of).

Or perhaps just a mix of our blogs. It'd be great! (We've got to leave something for the Closing Ceremony as well, though.)

The suspense is KILLING me! Someone do something. Take matters into your own hands if need be.

Can't access Gmail from work, but I promise you here and now that you may be exploded from funness overload!
